Obituary for Raymond C. Masters

Raymond C.  Masters
Raymond C. Masters, 88, of Glenmont, NY, formerly of Marcellus, NY, died peacefully at St Peter’s Hospital on Nov 7, 2016. He was born on Sept 2, 1928 to the late Clarence and Ida Masters and spent his early years on the Masters farm on Maple Hill Rd in Marcellus. Visiting on the farm with his family was always a joy on Sunday afternoons. He was co-owner of the Marcellus Supply Co with his wife, Dora, and enjoyed many years providing his friends and customers with merchandise and advice. He enjoyed gathering with his friends each morning for coffee at the back of the store. One of his greatest joys was spending time with family, friends and neighbors, especially during the winter years spent in Jenson Beach, Florida.
He is survived by his children, David Masters and his wife, Karen of Salem, SC, Keith Masters of Poquoson, VA, and Nancy Braaten and her husband Jack of Delmar, NY. His grandchildren, Jeff Hooker and his wife, Wendy, Craig Hooker, Greg Masters, Lindsey Davis and her husband Corey, Scott Braaten and his wife Alexandra, Kara Braaten, and Megan Fenson and her husband Jon. He is also survived by his great grandchildren, Emaleigh, Kaelyn and Makayla Hooker, Avery and Grant Masters, Hanna and Madelyn Davis and the newest great grandchild, born one week ago, Maya Fenson. Also many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his wife, Dora E Masters, his daughter, Cynthia Hooker, son in law, Martin Hooker and grandson, Anthony Hooker.
Services will be at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov 11 at Plis Funeral Home. Friends and family are invited to call on the family from 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home, 33 North St., Marcellus. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Marcellus.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Marcellus United Methodist Church, 1 Slocombe Ave. Marcellus, N.Y. 13108.
