Obituary for Richard F. McManus

Richard “Dick” Floyd McManus, age 86, passed away peacefully at Upstate University Hospital at Community General on May 8, 2017. He is now ready for his “Final ride up the hill” with his trademark suspenders. He was a lifelong resident of Marcellus. He was a past chief and lifelong member of the Marcellus VFD. He retired from Stroehmann’s Bakery where he was a truck driver. To keep active, he did various part-time jobs around Marcellus. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed travelling with his wife and family.
Predeceased by his parents Floyd and Ruth (Seymour) McManus, and sisters Shirley (Don) Gallinger and Esther (Red) Spencer.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years Joyce (Sweeny), siblings Hazel (Paul) Morgan and Art (Laurel) McManus, daughter Kathy (Mike) Pennisi, son Jeff (Penny) McManus, grandchildren Rachel (Joey) Giddings, Frank Pennisi, Megan Pennisi, great grand children Bella, Raiden, Abby, Kylie, Faith, as well as many other nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be at Plis Funeral Home, 33 North Street, Marcellus, on Saturday May 13th from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. A short service will follow.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Marcellus Volunteer Fire Department or to the Marcellus Ambulance Fund.
