Obituary for Helen T Skomsky (Rybarczyk)

Helen T. Skomsky, 92, of Auburn, died Sunday, September 17, 2017. Mrs. Skomsky was a life resident of the Auburn area, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Sypula Rybarczyk. She was a former employee of the Cayuga County Department of Social Services, retiring in 1990. She was a communicant of St. Hyacinth’s Church, and a former member of the church choir. She was an active and 50 year member of the Polish Falcons, Nest 430, and a member of the Legion of Honor. She was a supporter of the SPCA. She took great pride in her Polish Heritage, and the fact that she was fluent in the Polish Language. She was frequently called upon to translate letters from Poland, or to write letters going to Poland
Helen is survived by her sons Michael and his wife Pamela of Auburn, and Paul of Orlando, FLA, grandchildren Katie, Matthew (Annie) and Beth, and four great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Jane Vivenzio, five nieces and nephews, Luke Rybarczyk, Edward Vivenzio, Sandra, Mark and Mary Jo McEldowney, along with several other great nieces and nephews, and a dear friend Cathy Bush.
Funeral services for Helen will be at 9 a.m. Thursday from the Plis Funeral Home, and 9:30 A.M. in St. Hyacinth’s Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call Wednesday from 4 to 7 P.M. at the funeral home, 220 State St.
