Obituary for Malcolm E. Wheeler

Malcolm E. Wheeler, 86, of Amber, died peacefully Monday, February 4th, at the Commons on St. Anthony, Auburn NY.
Born and raised on the Wheeler family farm, Malcolm lived his entire life in Amber. He eventually went on to own his own garage, operate heavy equipment, drive tractor trailer and worked as a mechanic for several different companies.
Malcolm was very involved with the Amber Fire Department and was the longest active member in its history. He joined in 1952, was active for 59 years and a life member for 7 more, an awesome accomplishment indeed! Along with the fire department, he also enjoyed his many hunting and fishing trips in the Adirondacks and Canada.
Malcolm was a devoted husband and father who was known to voice his opinion whether you wanted to hear it or not!
He was predeceased by his wife Jean in 1997. Malcolm is survived by his 8 children, Denise Eason, Michael Wheeler, Diane (Russ) Fisher, Larry (Carol) Wheeler, Steven Wheeler, Laurie Just-Torrance, Linda (Andy) Henderson and Cheryl (Drew) Muscarella. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Family and friends may call from 1-4 on Sunday, February 10th, at Plis Funeral Home, 33 North St, Marcellus. The funeral service will be at 11 am Monday, February 11th, at the Amber Congregational Church, Amber with a spring burial in Amber Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Amber Fire Department.
