Obituary for Barbara C. Wright

Barbara C. Wright, 71, of Marietta passed away Wednesday June 4, 2014 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Brooklyn to the late John F. and Mildred Souter. Barb was a member of the United Christian Church of Marietta where she was the Sunday school Superintendent as well as co-coordinator of Vacation Bible School for many years.
Barb is survived by her beloved husband of 51 years Roger Wright; daughters Karen (Ron) Gourley, Lynda (Mike) Schmidt, Heather (Alan) Arnold, Debra Wright and Amy (James) Naguib. She is also survived by her brother Peter Souter of Baltimore, MD. Barb was a loving grandmother to her 12 precious grandchildren; Faith, Hannah and Rebekah Gourley, Zack and Emily Schmidt, Rachel, Timothy, Meredith, Bethany and William Arnold, Darcy Wright and Ethan Naguib. She was also loved by her Honorary Granddaughter Justina Luis.
Barb worked for many years at the Syracuse Rescue Mission. She was the Assistant Administrator of the New Hope Adult Home where she worked closely with Dr. James Greenwald in the medical clinic. She was also responsible for staff supervision and training. Later, Barb worked as a Case Manager in the Crossroads program. She touched many lives during her time at the Rescue Mission.
Calling hours will be Saturday June 14 from 2 to 4 pm at the United Christian Church of Marietta, 2851 Sevier Rd., Marietta, NY 13110 with a memorial service to follow.
