Basil Shymkiw, 89, of Auburn, past suddenly and peacefully Saturday evening, March 30, 2019.
A native of the Ukraine, he was the son of the late Joseph and Pearl Shymkiw. Basil and his family arrived in the United States in 1945, to start a new life following WW II. He worked for 38 years at P&R Macaroni, and after their closing he worked for RPM Industries, retiring in 1995.
He is survived by his two sons, Bill and Andrew Shymkiw, grandson Anthony (Ryan) Shymkiw, and great grandchildren Bryanna, Alekxander and Kyle Shymkiw. Also surviving is his sister Kathryn Kowal of Rochester, and brothers Stephen Shymkiw of Auburn and Michael Shymkiw of Fulton. He was predeceased by his brother Jerry Shymkiw.
Basil will be sadly missed, and always remembered. Friends are invited to call Thursday from 2 to 4 P.M. at the Plis Funeral Home, 220 State St. Services will follow at 4 P.M. at the funeral home.
