Charles D. Smith, 71 of Marietta passed away Friday February 17, 2023 at Upstate University Hospital Community General Campus, with his family by his side.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years Louise Bielowicz Smith, his five children, Douglas Smith, Jeffrey (Tricia) Smith, James Sanford, Anna (Derik) Higgins and Abby (Jacob) Smith, his cherished grandchildren Sophia, Ava, Connor, Aiden, Rhys and Jack. He also leaves behind his brothers, Stephen, David, and Mike and sister LouAnne Weatherstone. He was predeceased by his parents Arthur and Barb Smith.
Charlie was a third generation tool and die maker and owner of Bowen Products. Charlie’s family and grandchildren were the joy of his life. He loved fishing and creating things with his hands at work. He loved driving his mustang Shelby “on his favorite shortcuts”
The family would like to thank the staff on 3N ICU and Palliative care team at Community General.
Calling hours will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday February 21 at the Plis Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday February 22 at the funeral home, 33 North St. Marcellus.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Marcellus Ambulance, Amber Fire Department or Helping Hounds.
