Obituary for Chloe S. Harris (Sharp)

Chloe Ann Sharp Harris passed away Monday December 3rd at her home with her loving and devoted husband of 65 years at her side. She was born in 1935 in Syracuse, a daughter to the late Robert and Jennie Sharp. She graduated from the Syracuse City Schools and held many jobs over the years. She retired from Community General Hospital in 1987 as the surgical coordinator. She held many jobs over the years but the one she loved the most was taking care of her family.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy.
She lived a full and rewarding life. She was introduced to her husband by her brother Albert in 1953 and fell in love with him and the Harris family.
She was a lifelong resident of Howlett Hill. She was involved in the Howlett Hill Fire Department Auxiliary and served as the president many times over the years. She was active in the Howlett Hill United Presbyterian Church and was involved with the Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Brownies and girl Scouts. She was always deeply involved in anything her family was doing.
She enjoyed life to the fullest. She loved taking family vacations, camping trips, casinos, scotch, traveling the world, Syracuse Basketball, baking and life in general. She was able to travel around NY State with her husband as he went about his business of visiting Fire Departments for Har-Rob Fire Apparatus. She enjoyed entertaining friends and family at her home which was always open to every child in the neighborhood.
She always had a special place in her heart for her animals. She had many dogs and cats over the years and often spoke of her fond memories of her first Harris family dog named Laddie.
Chloe was predeceased by her parents Robert & Jennie, in-laws James & Rose Harris and all her siblings Eugene, Albert, Calvin, Gerald, Janet, Jane & Edwin.
She is survived by her Husband John of 65 years, her children, James (Joni), John (Leona) and Heidi (Michael) Broton. Grandchildren: Joshua (Kerry), Tara, John Henry III (Megan), Olivia Rose, Emily and Michael. Great Grandchildren: Joshua Jr, Faith, Christopher, Nathanial and Emma and many nephews and nieces.
Calling hours will be Friday December 28th, from 1 – 3 PM at the Plis Funeral Home 33 North St., Marcellus. A service will be held immediately after at 3 p.m. where family and friends will celebrate her life. A reception for friends and family will be held at 4PM at the Howlett Hill Fire Station.
