Obituary for David J. Palen

David Palen, 47, of Camillus, NY passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday, January 30th. David was born May 12th, 1970 in Syracuse, NY. The eldest of 3 children, he graduated from Marcellus High School and spent his life in Upstate NY as an accomplished stone mason. David was a loving son, father, husband, brother, and friend.
An avid hunter and fisherman, David had a true passion for the outdoors. Not the type to sit idle, he lived a rich life, always moving forward at full speed. In May of 1994, David married the love of his life, Ann Marie Jankowski, and three short years later gave birth to their baby boy, Dustin. The family shared in his love for the wilderness, and spent much of their time together on any body of water that had a fishing pier or a high tide. He was a well-traveled, small town man who spent his vacation time in Ocean City, Maryland, Florida, the US Virgin Islands, and most recently Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. Locally he was the winner of numerous fishing tournaments and ice fishing derbies. He also loved snowmobiling, and taking his Harley out on the rolling hills around central NY.
David is survived by his wife and son, Ann Marie Palen and Dustin Palen; his mother and father, Laura and Robert Palen; his sister, Corinne Palen Russell; and his brother, Gabriel Palen.
In honor and celebration of David’s life, A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 3rd at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Marcellus, NY.
