Elaine A. Silverstein, daughter of August Remo Passetti and Anna Jurick, passed away peacefully on Christmas Day at the age of 80. She was married to Howard G. Silverstein for 37 years before he predeceased her in 1999. Elaine obtained an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science from Pace College in New York City and was employed locally at Syracuse University. She was an excellent cook and baker. She enjoyed camping, fishing, and being outdoors especially when it was cold and snowy. Most of all, she cherished the time she spent surrounded by her family.
The family would like to give their most sincere gratitude to the staff at Van Duyn for the help, support, and caring of Elaine, and their family, during her stay.
Elaine leaves behind two sons, a daughter, four grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren. Her children include Andrew (Liz) Silverstein, Cheryl (Pete) Miller, and Russell (Michelle) Silverstein. Her grandchildren are Angela (Shaun) Burkhart, Lindsey (Jason) Valliere, Jacob (Deb) Silverstein, and Lloyd Bennett.
Due to Elaine’s love of the outdoors, her celebration of life will be delayed until Spring so that an outdoor event can be held in her honor. Her burial will be a private.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Mount Washington Observatory or the Cape Cod National Seashore, as those were some of her favorite places to visit.
