Elizabeth Kowal Blaisdell McDonald, 90, of Syracuse, died Saturday, March 2, 2019, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, following a brief illness.
Elizabeth was a native of Auburn, the daughter of the late Michael and Fotinia Orysek Kowal. She has resided in Syracuse for more than 40 years. Until she retired, she had been a Day Care provider for 20 years. She also volunteered at St. Joseph’s Hospital for 4 ½ years, and at St. Camillus Nursing and Rehab Center for 4 years. She enjoyed the New York Mets and Pyrohy.
She is survived by 4 daughters, Donna (James) Malinowski of Port Byron, Deborah Jones of Montezuma, Maryann (Patrick) Hartung of Syracuse and Michele Orr of Penn Yan, NY, and her three sons, Michael Blaisdell of Auburn, Gregory (Doreen) McDonald of Baltimore, MD, and Arthur Scott McDonald of Syracuse, several grandchildren, great –grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sister, Sr. Miriam Claire (Virginia Kowal) OSBM, and her brother David (Cathy) Kowal, and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her daughter Paula McGann, her son Clifton (Kippy) Blaisdell, and her sisters Mary and Julia Kowal, Anastasia (Nellie) Boncariwsky, Helen Sage, Sophie Berry and Ann (Barbara) Crawford.
Funeral services for Mrs. McDonald will be at 9:30 A.M. Friday, from the Plis Funeral Home, and 10 A.M. in SS Peter & Paul Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call Thursday, from 4 to 7 P.M. at the funeral home, 220 State St.
