Frances Eleanor Wilson Smith passed away peacefully on February 2, 2021 Frances was born December 13, 1926 in Syracuse, NY, to Robert and Edith Whiteford Wilson. Her family moved to Marcellus, NY in 1931, where they ran the Wilson Dairy milk business on East Hill. She graduated from Marcellus High School in 1944, and received her RN from the General Hospital School of Nursing in 1947. She worked at Bigg’s Memorial Hospital in Ithaca, and Memorial Hospital in Syracuse, and retired from nursing in 1977 to care for her mother. She later worked many years at the Marcellus Day Care facility. She was a member of the Marcellus Methodist Church, and was active in many church activities, including the Gift and Thrift shop.
She married Richard Allan Smith of Marcellus on June 17, 1950, and together they raised 5 children. They enjoyed several cruises with friends, and ten years of visiting with Marcellus friends in Jensen Beach, Florida during the winter months.
Frances was predeceased by her parents, her husband Richard in 2018, and her daughter-in-law Krista. She is survived by her daughter Lynne (Bob) Smith, and sons Kevin, Jeff (Mary Beth), Brad (Beth Ann), and Marty (Melanie), eleven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Frances donated her body to Science, through Upstate University Hospital.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday August 7 at Marcellus United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her name may be made to the Marcellus Methodist Church, 1 Slocombe Ave, Marcellus, NY 13108.
