Obituary for Frances Mae Thorpe

Frances Mae (Sevier) Thorpe, 71, of Marcellus passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family after a short but courageous battle with her illness.
She was employed at Van Duyn Home & hospital for over 20 years. In her capacity as a nurse's aide she made sure all patients in her care were treated as if they were her mother or father. Fran will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She loved to go camping and spend time with her grandchildren. She was the heart of her family.
She was predeceased by her parents George and Marion Sevier, sisters Beverly McVey and Jane McKendrick, brother George Sevier Jr., and nephew Raymond Salsbery.
Fran is survived by her husband and best friend of 50 years Carl James Thorpe; sons Duane Thorpe and Matthew (Janice) Thorpe; sisters Jeannette (Richard) Salsbery, Rita Stock, Patricia (Terry) Lee, Jean Wells, Juanita (Tom) Balamut and Darlene (Darrell) Bragman; brothers Frederick and Richard (Carey) Sevier and 7 grandchildren.
Services for Fran will be 9:30 a.m. Tuesday Aug. 30, 2011 at St. Francis Xavier Church, Marcellus. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery. Friends may call on the family from 4-7 p.m. Monday Aug. 29, 2011 at the Plis Funeral Home, 33 North St., Marcellus.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of CNY, American Cancer Society Marcellus Fire Department or a charity of your choice.
