Obituary for Frank A. Howlett

Frank Howlett, 97 of Marcellus passed away on March 21, 2022. Frank attended Marcellus Central School. Accepted into the Morning Star Lodge #524 F.&A.M. Masonic Temple of Marcellus. He just entered his 69th year into his Brotherhood with the lodge. First as apprentice, fellow of the craft, and working into a Master Mason. Frank was a hard working farmer since birth on his parents farm. He worked for the Onondaga County Dept. of Transportation many years starting from the bottom and worked tirelessly from a shovel, progressing up to heavy equipment operator; he worked long days and nights plowing through blizzards to building and maintaining our county roads. He gained the titles of labor crew leader and onto section crew leader of the Marcellus section until retiring in 1982. Up to his last 6 months of life you would find dad out on his tractor proudly keeping up the hundred acre farm. Perhaps when you spoke to Frank, he always asked for your weather report; then let you know how the weather was, where he was at the time. It was part of his lifetime of fortitude. Predeceased by his parents Harry and Clara Howlett, his sisters -Jeanette, Helen and Louise, wife, Joyce (Amidon); sons Walter, Frank Jr.; and an infant son.
Survived by Daniel of Alaska, Darleen (Jack) Thompson, of Marietta, Julie Holmes of Syracuse, and Elizabeth (Lyman) Fritz of Montana along with many grand and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Services for Frank will begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday March 29 at the Plis Funeral Home with a Masonic Service and Eastern Star Service. Calling hours will be from 11-1 pm prior to the services at the funeral home, 33 North St., Marcellus.
