Obituary for Galina Hawuczyk

Galina (Halia) Hawuczyk, 42, of Port Byron, died Friday March 11, 2011 at SUNY Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse, surrounded by her loving family, following a valiant 4 year battle with cancer.
Halia was a native of the Ukraine, one of three children to Julia and the late Stephan Kravets, and has resided in the Auburn area since 1993. She was employed by McQuay International. She was a communicant of SS Peter & Paul Church, and a member of the SICZ Club. She volunteered her time for many of her children's activities.
She is survived by her husband Harry W. Hawuczyk of Port Byron, her three children Tetyana (Tanya) and Marika Kobylnyak and Gregory Hawuczyk, at home, her mother Julia Kravets, and brothers Andrej and Sergei all of the Ukraine. Also surviving are her in-laws Harry and Mary Hawuczyk, and her brother and sister –in-law Jerry and Shery Hawuczyk.
Funeral services for Galina will be at 9 A.M. Tuesday, from the Plis Funeral Home, and 9:30 A.M. in SS Peter & Paul Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Friends are invited to call Monday, from 4 to 7 P.M. at the Funeral Home, 220 State St.
Contributions may be made to an educational scholarship for Gregory, in care of Tanya Kobylnyak.
