Obituary for Gary E. Haines

Gary E. Haines, 65, of Navarino passed away Sunday June 29, 2014 at home. Born in Syracuse to William Haines and the late Dorothy Haines, he was the owner and operator of Campus Hill Nursery for over 40 years. Gary graduated from Onondaga Central Schools and received his degree in Landscape Architecture from SUNY Cobleskill. He was also an honorary member of the Navarino Fire Department. Gary was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather and was very active in the town of Onondaga. Besides his mother Gary was predeceased by his first wife Joette in 2004, and infant children Heather and Eric.
Gary is survived by his wife Donna; daughters Tiffany (Darren) Haines-McLaughlin and Tara (Benjamin) Vincent; his father William Haines; sister Valerie (Stephen) Bailey; brother Bruce (Terri) Haines; grandchildren Kelsey, Kyle, Calie, Chesnie and Jadin. He is also survived by his step children Jeffrey (Michelle) Cutri, Daniel (Wendy) Cutri, Christina (J.D.) Wiggin, Craig Cutri and several step grandchildren.
A celebration of Gary's life will be 10 a.m. Wednesday July 2 at the Navarino Fire Department, 3276 Amber Rd., Syracuse, NY. Friends may call on the family from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday July 1 at the Plis Funeral Home, 33 North St., Marcellus. The family wishes for you to write down a story of Gary and bring it to calling hours.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Navarino Fire Department.
