Obituary for Gloria L. Hawley (Cobbett)

Gloria L. Cobbett Hawley, 84, of Cleveland, Ohio, formerly of Auburn, NY, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 26, 2021 at Southwest General Hospital in Middleburg Heights, Ohio.
Mrs. Hawley was born March 3, 1937 in West Hanover, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late Lester F. and Beatrice Fritz Cobbett. She has resided in Cleveland, Ohio for the past two and a half years. She had previously resided in Auburn, NY for 40 years. She was a stay at home mom for many years, but later in life she worked in a child care center, did house cleaning and was a senior companion at Westminster Manor in Auburn from 1996 to 1999. She also served on the Grand Jury of the Northern District of New York.
She was a woman of deep faith who was a prayer warrior and she enjoyed participating in Bible studies. Mrs. Hawley was a member of Second Baptist Church of Auburn. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, walking, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. A very generous person, Mrs. Hawley donated to various charities throughout her life.
She is survived by three daughters, Lori Zajac (Taras) of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Kathy Fleshman (Dale) of Cleveland, Ohio, and Lisa Hawley of Auburn, NY, one son Kevin Hawley (Tamela) of Corning, New York, and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: her husband of 53 years Gene Hawley in 2014; one granddaughter; one great granddaughter; four sisters Phyllis Gardner, Rena Strachan, Dorothy Gardner and Mildred Manion; and two brothers, Raymond and Melvin Cobbett.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hawley will be Monday, January 3, 2022 at 11:30 A.M. at Second Baptist Church, 1 N. Herman Avenue, Auburn. Pastor Guy Rathmell and Pastor Brian Hill will co-officiate. Spring Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Throop, NY. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service (10:30 – 11:30).
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either Second Baptist Church of Auburn or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
The wearing of masks is required.
