Obituary for Gordon E. Amidon

Gordon Earl Amidon, 66, of Syracuse, NY, passed away after a courageous battle with lung disease on January 10th. He was surrounded by friends and family in the hours and days before his passing.
Gordon was an example of hard work, integrity, commitment to family and his playfulness with children. He was a rock as single father to his own three children, as they were growing and in their years of adulthood. Always willing to lend a listening ear and a helping hand. He was a Boy Scout and Explorer Post leader for many years.
Gordon had a passion for nature, guns, collectible coins, antiques and Terry Redlin artwork. He had a lifetime career as a carpenter. He lived many places, including Arizona, Georgia and various places in New York. He could build or fix anything from building a house from the ground up, to building trailers and canoes from scratch.
Gordon was the father of the late Jeramy Amidon and brother to the late Doug, Shawn and Don Amidon. He is survived by his daughters, Amanda and Mindy, his father, Earl, siblings Lea, Kris and Bill Henderson and many loving grandchildren and extended family.
Calling hours for Gordon will be from 2-5 pm Sunday Jan. 15 at the Plis Funeral Home, 33 North St. Marcellus. A graveside service will be 11 am Monday Jan., 16 in Pine Ridge Cemetery, route 20 Navarino.
