Obituary for Helen Chinkivich (Dushatinski)

Helen Dushatinski Chinkivich, 96, of Auburn, died Saturday, June 23, 2018, at the Commons on St. Anthony.
Mrs. Chinkivich was a life resident of the Auburn area, the daughter of the late Thomas and Anna Gurka Dushatinski. She retired from Auburn Button Works following many years of service. She was a communicant of SS Peter & Paul Church, and a member of the St. Mary’s Society at the church. She enjoyed cooking for the holidays, knitting and crocheting. She made sure that her children and grandchildren each had an Afghan that she knitted.
She is survived by three daughters, Janet Quinn of Little Mountain, SC, Lorraine (Richard) Spafford of Auburn and Gloria (Daniel) Stephens of Indian Land, SC.
Also surviving are five grandchildren, Douglas Mark (Karen) Quinn, Ann (Gary) Mastroberti, Suzanne (Edmond) Pottorff, Gregory George (Nicole) Quinn and Amy Lynn Stephens, three great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband George in 1993, her daughter Elaine in 2012, and son-in-law Joseph Quinn in 2015, and seven brothers and sisters.
Friends are invited to call Saturday, June 30, from 9 A.M. to 10 A.M. at the Plis Funeral Home, 220 State St. Services will follow at 10 A.M. at the funeral home. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery Mausoleum.
Contributions may be made in Mrs. Chinkovich’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association of CNY, or to the American Heart Association.
