Obituary for Helen R. Swanson (Nowak)

Our beloved Aunt Helen passed peacefully Sunday, January 13, 2019 at Auburn Community Hospital, following a brief illness. Helen R. Nowak Swanson, 98, was born October 14, 1920, the daughter of the late Joseph and Nellie Killian Nowak. She was a life resident of the Auburn area, and until her illness had resided all her life in the family home. She enjoyed art, gardening and her animals. She was kind, caring, compassionate and generous. She was always looking out for her family, and enjoyed socializing with family friends and neighbors.
Helen retired from General Electric more than 30 years ago. She was a communicant of St. Hyacinth’s Church.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Earl in 2006, her sisters Natalie Adams, Josephine Nowak and Charlotte McKinnon, and her brothers Walter Pelc, Joseph Nowak and Casimir Nowak.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews, including special nephews Joseph and John Nowak and Justin McKinnon, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 A.M., Saturday, January 19, in St. Hyacinth’s Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Visiting will start at 9 A.M. in the church.
