Obituary for Helen B. Wilson

Helen B. Wilson, 89, of Auburn, died Saturday, October 20, 2012, at Auburn Community Hospital, following an extended illness.
Helen entered this world on March 24, 1923, the daughter of the late John and Monica Demska Bartosik. She was a member of the 1941 graduating Class of Central High. Helen was employed by the City of Auburn, for 26 years, retiring in 1985 from the Civil Service Office. She was a communicant of St. Hyacinth's Church, and a member of the Rosary Sodality and the Benevolent Society. She was a member of the Polish Falcons, Nest 430, the Polish National Alliance, and was a 63 year member and Past President of the Swietoniowski-Kopeczek Post, American Legion Auxiliary. She was a past member of the Cayuga County Community Service Board, a past member of the MRDD board of the Cayuga County mental Health Board, a former Vice President of the Cayuga County Chapter of the American Diabetes Association, where she was active in recruiting sponsors for send Juvenile Diabetes children to Camp Good Days, and she was a member of the Retired Public Association. She was an avid bowler and former City Doubles Champion, and she enjoyed golf, and was a former member of the Highland Golf Club.
She is survived by her daughter Karen W. VanScoyk of Auburn, three grandchildren Michelle and Scott Burroughs, Jonathan and Kelly VanScoyk and Kari and Patrick Aiduk. Also surviving are five great grandchildren, Raymond Burroughs, Kelsey, Johnny and Luka VanScoyk and Mya Grace Aiduk, son-in-law Michael VanScoyk, sisters-in-law Eileen Bokol and Dorothy Storm, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Raymond Wilson, on May 19, 2002, her sister Genevieve Wanat and brothers Matthew, Stephen, Joseph Bartosik and Johnny Storm.
Funeral services for Mrs. Wilson will be at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, from the Plis Funeral Home, and 11 A.M. in St. Hyacinth's Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call Tuesday, from 4 to 7 P.M. at the funeral home, 220 State St.
Contributions may be made in her memory to Hospice of the Finger Lakes, or St. Joseph's School.
