Obituary for Horace J. Rouse

Horace J. Rouse, 90, of Onondaga Hill passed away Sunday July 7, 2013 at home. Born in Tully, and was raised in Otisco. He worked for Carrier for 23 years retiring in 1971 then worked for the Town of Onondaga Highway Department for over 20 years. Horace was in the US Army and was a golden glove boxer while enlisted. He was a Senior League Baseball Coach in South Onondaga and a 4-H leader. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 65 years Leona in 2007 and siblings.
Horace is survived by his daughters Janet Bell of Onondaga Hill and Jane (William) McAleese of Nedrow; sons David of Cayuga, Richard (Rena) of Auburn and Ronald of Onondaga Hill; brother Elroy "Mike" (Pat) and sister-in-laws Carol Sanford and Norma Rother; 18 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandsons along with several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday July 11 at the Plis Funeral Home. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Onondaga Hill. Calling hours will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday July 10 at the funeral home, 33 North St. Marcellus.
Memorial contributions may be made to either Hospice of CNY or the South Onondaga Fire Department.
