Obituary for Jacob R. Walters Sr.

Jacob R. Walters, Sr., 42, of Marietta passed away Friday March 27, 2015 at home. Born in Syracuse, he was a graduate of Onondaga Central Schools and his last employment was at Hand Held Products in Skaneateles Falls. Jake was a devoted father to his two boys and never missed any of their sporting events. He was a Chevy enthusiast, and loved anything that went fast. He also enjoyed NASCAR. Jake was also an advocate for organ transplantation following his heart transplant in 1988. One of the things Jake loved doing was helping out around the Heer family farm with his grandfather, uncle and little brother.
Jake leaves behind his high school sweetheart and wife of 19 years the former Jennifer New; cherished sons Jacob, Jr., and Jared; mother Doreen (Tom) Haskins; father Richard (Joanne) Walters; step father Thomas Krakau; sisters Rachel (Rick) Zerrillo and Jennifer (David) Tasso; brothers Mark (Kellie) Walters and Josh Krakau; He also leaves behind his grandfather Raymond Heer; mother-in-law Debbie New; father-in-law Richard (Cheri) New; sister-in-laws Nicole (David) Annable, Jaime (Kevin) New and Jolie (Matt) Colomb and nieces and nephews John, Kayla, Emily, Hunter, Zoe, Avery, Gianna, Evelyn, Cecilia and several aunts uncle and cousins.
Services for Jake will be 10 a.m. Wednesday April 1, at the Plis Funeral Home. Friends and family may call from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday March 31 at the funeral home, 33 North St., Marcellus.
Memorial donations in memory of Jake may be made to Make-a-Wish Foundation.
