Obituary for James E. Smith

James E. Smith, 82, of Skaneateles passed away Sunday May 31, 2015 at Upstate University Hospital. Born in Hornell, NY, to the late Frank and Gertrude Smith, Jim was a graduate of Hornell High School and Alfred Tech. He retired from the Skaneateles School District where he worked as a custodian for several years. Jim loved the outdoors especially hunting, fishing and camping which lead him to being a proud Eagle Scout. Besides his parents he is also predeceased by two sisters.
Jim is survived by his daughters Patricia (Donald) Bice of Howlett Hill and Kathleen (Robert) Main of Skaneateles; son James (Fiona) Smith of Key West, FL; , grandchildren Heather (Greg Sweatt) Bice, Brian Bice, Stephen Bice, Sarah Main and Hannah Main; great granddaughter Emma Bice and wife Mary M. Smith of Skaneateles.
Services for Jim will be 7 p.m. Thursday June 4 at the Plis Funeral Home. Friends may call on the family from 5-7 p.m. Thursday prior to the service at the funeral home, 33 North St., Marcellus.
