Obituary for Jeanette Rita Becerra

Jeanette Rita Becerra, 76, of Marcellus, NY, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse on October 16, 2014. She was born May 5, 1938, to the late James and Irene (Sibley) Stewart. Jeanette was a registered nurse, retiring from Huntington Family Centers. She served on the board of directors for Southern Hills Preservation Corporation. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, playing the piano, gardening, cooking, reading, and taking long walks. She also enjoyed several years of singing in the church choir at St. Francis Xavier Church.
Jeanette was predeceased by her husband, the love of her life, Dr. Alejandro Becerra, in 1972.
Surviving are her children, Ramon (Gloria) Becerra of Marcellus, Juan (Terry) Becerra of Albany, Alex (Nancy) Becerra of Liverpool, Paul (Amy) Becerra of Syracuse, Raquel Becerra of Marcellus; sister Kathleen (Tommy) Reagan; brother James (charlotte) Stewart; several nieces and nephews; and eight grandchildren, all of whom deeply loved and cared for Jeanette.
A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 9 a.m. on Monday October 20 at St. Francis Xavier Church, Marcellus. The rite of burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call on the family from 2-5 p.m. Sunday October 19 at the Plis Funeral Home, 33 North St. Marcellus.
