Obituary for Jerry Kochman

¬¬ Jerome “Jerry” Kochman, 70, of Auburn, died Monday, March 25, 2019, at Auburn Community Hospital from complications of chronic pulmonary disease. Jerry was a native of Auburn, the son of the late Michael H. and Helen Dyrda Kochman. He was a graduate of Mt. Carmel High School and the Rochester Institute of Technology. After completing a degree in Business Management, he lived in the Canandaigua area for several years where he worked for Widmer Winery and Gunlocke. Jerry returned to Auburn and was employed by the United States Postal Service until his retirement. He was a communicant of St. Hyacinth’s Church. Jerry was an avid NASCAR fan, a dedicated home gardener for many years, and enjoyed the camaraderie of his fellow Ukrainian National Club members. He is survived by his sister Barbara Allen, of Arizona, his devoted cousin JoAnne Kiggins of Syracuse, numerous cousins, and special buddy Alan Dunchak. Sincere thanks for their expert care are extended to the dedicated, compassionate nurses and Dr. Gleason in the Intensive Care Unit at Auburn Community Hospital, as well as appreciation to Jerry’s Perrine St. neighbors and friends who provided assistance in times of need. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, March 30th in St. Hyacinth’s Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Friends are invited to call Friday from 4 to 7 P.M. at the Plis Funeral Home, 220 State St. Contributions in Jerry’s memory can be directed to St. Hyacinth’s Church, or to Airways Clinical Research Centers (ACRC) of the American Lung Association.
