Obituary for John S. Dopko

John S. Dopko, formerly of Auburn, passed away on Friday, November 16, 2013, at his home in Arden, North Carolina. John was born in Plymouth, PA, the son of the late John B. and Stella Protasiewicz Dopko. He attended Bloomsburg State College in Pennsylvania, and was a graduate of Wilkes-Barre Business College. John worked at various positions in Auburn Banking Institutions for over 30 years, including Auburn Savings Bank where he served as Treasurer, and Cayuga Bank, from which he retired in 1999. He was a former member of the Army Reserve National Guard, and served on the boards of numerous civic organizations, throughout his professional career.
John is survived by his wife Mary Quill Dopko, his three sons, Jeff Dopko and his wife Dana of Raleigh, NC, Tim Dopko of Colorado Springs, CO, and Greg Dopko of Auburn. He is also survived by his sister Jean Zimmerman and her husband Bob of Mechanicsburg, PA, grandson Shane Woodman, granddaughters Maggie and Isabella Dopko, and step-granddaughter Kaia Whitson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at A.M. Wednesday in St. Mary's Church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 P.M. at the Plis Funeral Home, 220 State St., Auburn.
Contributions in John's memory may be made to the charity of one's choice.
