Obituary for Jonathan James Heerkens

On Thanksgiving Day we lost our beloved Jonathan James Heerkens, 28 of a heart attack at home. His love, kindness, and generosity will be in our hearts and in the hearts of his friends, forever. Jonny leaved behind his mother Kathleen and his father Ronald. He also leaves behind brothers Steven and Daniel, sister Angela, his sister in law Amy, brother in law Nate, and nieces and nephews Jenne, Hadlee, Brandon and Ryan. Jonny leaves behind numerous friends, in particular Jared Locke who has given wonderful support to our family during these trying times.
Jonny graduated from Marcellus High School in 2002 where he played football, baseball and lacrosse. He received his Associated degree in Business from Morrisville and certification for Auto Technology from UTI (Universal Technical Institute) in Orlando, Fl. Ultimately he wanted to pursue his interests in custom car repair and detailing. He liked designing tattoos and surprised his family more than once with new body art and strange hair! We loved every minute of it and loved Jonny for the wonderful person he was.
Visiting hours will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday Nov. 29, 2011 at the Plis Funeral Home, 33 North St. Marcellus. He will be laid to rest next to his nephew Adam Daniel Heerkens at 10 a.m. Wednesday Nov. 30, 2011 at Maplewood Rural Cemetery (Berry Rd) Lafayette, NY.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Crouse Memorial Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, 736 Irving Ave., Syracuse, NY 13210 or just get a tattoo!
