Obituary for Joseph A. Guariglia

Joseph A. Guariglia, 56, of Auburn died Thursday, January 17, 2019 at St. Joseph’s Health & Hospital Center, Syracuse, following an extended illness.
Joe was a life resident of the Auburn area, the son of Francis and the late Mary Jane Fruscello Guariglia. He graduated from Auburn High School, and attended Cayuga Community College. He was a Nuclear Engineer, and worked many years at Nine Mile Point in Oswego, before retiring from the Ginna Power Plant in Ontario, NY. He was a former member and chief of the Owasco Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by his children Alex (Caitlin) and Nicholas Guariglia, and Nicole, (David) Mastropietro, all of Auburn, his father Francis “ Frank” Guariglia of Auburn, sisters Jean (Tom) Plis of Glenville, Fran (Mark) Turner of Skaneateles, his brother Steve Guariglia of Boston, MA, nieces and cousins. He was predeceased by his mother Mary Jane in 2000.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 A.M. Thursday, January 24, in Sacred Heart Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 P.M. Wednesday in Sacred Heart Church, 90 Melrose Rd., Auburn.
