Obituary for Joseph P. Kubarek

Joseph P. Kubarek, 88, of Auburn, died Sunday January 30, 2011, following a brief illness. Mr. Kubarek was a life resident of the Auburn area, the son of the late Jozef and Antonia Maj Kubarek. He was a graduate of Alliance College. He was a veteran of WW II, serving in Europe with the 357th Army Air Corps. He was a former employee of GTE Sylvania, retiring in 1985. He was a member of St. Hyacinth's Church. He was also a member and Gold Legion of Honor recipient of the Polish Falcons, where he served many years as an officer and director. He was also a former member of Local 4276, United Steel Workers, and served as their Financial Secretary for several years.
He is survived by his daughter Ann Marie Kubarek of Auburn, and his sons and their wives, Joseph and Sharon Kubarek of Orchard Park, and Mark and Terri Kubarek of Throop. Also surviving are his grandchildren Amanda and Christopher Kubarek, his in-laws, Stella Kubarek of Auburn, Phyllis McLaughlin, Suzanne (Richard) Yates and Elizabeth LeRoy, all of the Geneva area, Rocco Morabito of Florida, and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Josephine Morabito Kubarek, on January 5, 2011, his sisters Marcella Kubarek, Stella Sluty, and Dorothy Bromley, and his brother John (Matt) Kubarek.
Funeral services for Mr. Kubarek will be at 9:30 A.M. Thursday, from the Plis Funeral Home, and 10 A.M. In St. Hyacinth's Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call Wednesday, from 4 to 7 P.M. At the funeral home, 220 State St.
Contributions may be made in Mr. Kubarek's memory to St. Hyacinth's Church.
