Obituary for Josephine Kott

Josephine T. Kott, of Auburn, passed away Sunday, August 26, at Auburn Community Hospital.
Josephine was a life resident of Auburn, the daughter of the late John and Agnes Mocniak Kott. She was employed for 40 years by the City of Auburn, serving as Deputy City Treasurer under several City Treasurers. In addition, she served as the first woman on the CSEA negotiating committee with the city.
She was a parishioner of St. Hyacinth's Church all he life, and was active as it's Food Pantry Director, served on the Church Council, and was a member of the Rosary Altar Society, and the St. Cecilia's Choir. Prior to modern technology, she typed the church bulletin for 20 years.
She volunteered or contributed to numerous benefits and charities, and in her early teens, volunteered as a nurse for the Red Cross during WW II.
She was a 50 year member of the Polish Falconettes, holding all of the offices, and was awarded the Gold Legion of Honor.
Surviving is her brother Ted, and his wife Marion, many loving nieces, nephews and cousins, and her very special friend/sister Helen Rybarczyk Skomsky.
Jo was predeceased by her sisters Stella O'Hora, Helen Muldoon and Rose Kott, and her brothers John (Cookie), Michael, and Stanley (Charlie).
The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to Debbie Connor, who provided wonderful care to Jo, and became family over the past several years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 1 P.M. Saturday in St. Hyacinth's Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
There are no calling hours.
Memorials may be made in Jo's memory to the St. Hyacinth's Stained Glass Window Project.
Funeral arrangements are by the Plis Funeral Home.
