Obituary for Laurance P. Galster

Laurance “Larry” Philip Galster, age 83, passed away peacefully February 23, 2022 at Loretto Nursing Home in Syracuse. He was a graduate of East Syracuse High School. At a dance Larry met and later married Miss Jeanne Arnold, spending 62 years together. He volunteered in the Air National Guard 174th TFW, 108th Ops Squadron as a Cryptologist, later deploying to France with his brother Earl during the Berlin Crisis. He worked in several companies while spending over 20 years with GE/Lockheed-Martin producing radar, sonar, and locomotives as a supervisor before retiring.

Larry enjoyed traveling, camping, boating and fishing, playing cards, and participating in local parades. He coached a Little League team to a championship, led a local Junior Achievement chapter and served as a church Elder. He was a Past President the Onondaga Hill Masonic Club and a member of Konosioni Lodge #950 in Fayetteville.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jeanne, his siblings Carl Galster (FL), and Shirley Bloomer (NY); and his children, Alan and his wife Susan of Pepperell, MA, Mary Brayman and her husband Timothy of Jamesville, NY, and Kenneth and his wife Robyn of Kirkville NY. Larry always had a smile on his face for his seven grandchildren Christine, Patrick, Jacquelynn, Janelle, Mackenzie, Hannah, Shannon, and two step-grandchildren TJ and Lesley. He is called Opi by many great-grandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and well-loved friends. He is predeceased by his brother, Earl (Chuck) Galster.

Memorial services will take place privately for the family. Live stream of the services will begin at 11 am Monday February 28 on Larry’s memorial page on the funeral homes website . Internment services with Military Honors will be in the spring at Lakeview Cemetery in Skaneateles.
