Mary Theresa Walawender, 80, of Auburn, died unexpectedly at her residence on Thursday, October 18, 2018.
Mary was a life resident of Auburn, the daughter of the late Frank and Catherine Leja Walawender. She retired in 1991 as a book keeper for the Cayuga County Highway Department. She was an active parishioner of St. Hyacinth’s Church, and served as a Eucharistic Minister, and was very active with the church pierogi workers. Mary was a diehard New York Met’s fan.
She is survived by several cousins, including Mary Kowal and Paul Monczka. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother John Walawender.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 A.M. Tuesday, from the Plis Funeral Home, and Mary’s Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 A.M. in St. Hyacinth’s Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call Monday from 4 to 6 P.M. at the funeral home, 220 State St., Auburn.
