Obituary for Marydee D. Ames (Pankhurst)

Marydee D. Ames, 88, of Marcellus passed away peacefully at home on September 14, 2020. Born in Clockville, NY, to the late Calvin and Mary Pankhurst, she attended SUNY Cortland then got her nursing degree from Crouse-Irving School of Nursing. She worked for several years at Crouse Hospital before becoming the nurse at Clary Middle School for 27 years. Marydee was a member at Marcellus United Methodist Church and was an avid golfer belonging to Tuscarora Golf Club for over 50 years. She loved to winter in Port St. Lucie with her husband C. Robert, where in her free time she golfed and painted.
She is survived by her son Charles “Chuck” (Karen) Ames, son-in-law Daryl McPherson, sisters Geraldine (Dennis) Costanzo and Eulalia (David) Wickham. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren Jeff and Caleigh (Matt Skinner) Ames, Carlton, Serena, Ashley, Jasmine and Nicholas McPherson and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was also predeceased by her husband C. Robert Ames, daughter Pamela McPherson, and sisters Shirley Stocknick and Elva May Kuss.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday September 17, in Marcellus United Methodist Church. Calling hours will be from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service at the church. As per NYS Department of Health face masks will be required along with social distancing and occupancy limitations. She will be buried with her husband in Onondaga County Veteran’s Cemetery.
