Obituary for Metro Durvetsky

Metro Durvetsky, 93, of Auburn, died peacefully on Tuesday, October 2, 2018.
Metro was a native of Wilmore, PA, the son of the late Wasyl and Tanka Durvetsky. He has resided most of his life in Auburn. He was an Army veteran of WW II, and received the Purple Heart for wartime injuries sustained while under attack during his service in the Asiatic Pacific fleet. He retired as an attendance officer for the Auburn School District. Prior to that he had been employed by Dowd-Leo’s Men’s store. He was an active member of the Democratic Party.
Metro is survived by and will be missed by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his loving wife Jean Roach Durvetsky in 2006, and being the youngest of six children, he is predeceased by his brothers John Durvett and Stephen Durvetsky, and his sisters Anne C. Durvett, Eva Kondratick, and Betty Kaplan.
Funeral services for Mr. Durvetsky will be at 9:15 Thursday from the Plis Funeral Home, and 10 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Friends are invited to call Wednesday from 5 to 7 P.M. at the Plis Funeral Home, 220 State St. Auburn.
