Obituary for Milly Chalupnicki

Milly Sheftic Chalupnicki, (Aunt Mildred, Aunt Mina), 84, of Auburn passed away peacefully Monday, September 10, at St. Joseph's Hospital, surrounded by her family, following a long illness.
Milly was born April 12, 1928 in Auburn, the daughter of the late Peter and Antonia Mowchan Sheftic. She married Richard W. Chalupnicki October 7, 1950, and happily celebrated their 60th anniversary in 2010.
Milly was retired from Powerex (General Electric). She enjoyed gardening, knitting, bowling, singing, cooking, cards (especially the queen of SKIPBO) her church SS Peter & Paul, and her Ukrainian heritage. She also enjoyed baseball, and along with her husband was a season ticket holder of the Auburn Doubledays since 1995.
Milly loved her family, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a kid at heart herself. Whoever had the privilege of knowing Milly loved her from the moment they met her. She had a magnetic personality and a warm smile for everyone. Although she battled illness off and on, she never complained or questioned God why. She always managed to keep a smile, and will be sadly missed.
She is survived by six children; Richard (Christine), Arthur (Marcia), Mary Ann, Gregory (Ann), and Jeffrey (Lisa) all of Auburn and Sandra (Steven) Wiley of Clay. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, three great grandchildren, her sisters Mary Bocon and Olga Burridge, her brothers John and Richard Sheftic, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Richard in 2011, 2 grandsons, and seven brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Friday, from the Plis Funeral Home, and 11 A.M. in SS Peter & Paul Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph's cemetery. Friends are invited to call Thursday, from 4 to 7 P.M. at the funeral home, 220 State St.,
Contributions can be made in Milly's memory to the St. Joseph's Hospital Foundation, 973 James St., Suite 250, Syracuse, 13203
