Percy L. Clarke, Jr., 68, of Marcellus passed away Thursday August 8, 2019 at home. He was born in Syracuse to the late Percy and Eloise Clarke. He attended Jordan-Elbridge High School and later became a painter for the Syracuse City School District retiring after 34 years. He was an active member of the Camillus Elks Club. Throughout Percy’s life he had been an avid sports fan. For many years he coached youth sports in Marcellus while his children were growing up. He was a huge supporter of Marcellus sports and enjoyed watching his grandchildren play. He was a season ticket holder for Syracuse University basketball, football and lacrosse and enjoyed all the games with his family and friends. He enjoyed playing golf and was part of many golf and pitch leagues. He was generous and donated to many organizations. He cherished his friendships and spent a lot of time with his friends from Tipp Hill and the West end of Syracuse. He considered many as family.
Percy is survived by his children Percy L. (Joanna) Clarke III of Marcellus, Jessica Freeman of Rastatt, Germany, Jason Clarke of Marcellus and his grandchildren Bella, Sophia and Seamus. Besides his parents he was also predeceased by his brother Terry.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday August 14 in Highland Cemetery, Marcellus. Relatives and friends may call on the family from 3-7 p.m. Tuesday Aug 13 at the Plis Funeral Home, 33 North St., Marcellus.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Marcellus Boosters Club.
