Obituary for Rose F. Kronen (Frey)
Rose Elizabeth (Frey) Kronen, 92, of Marietta, passed away at St. Camillus Health Center on June 1st, 2020 where she had been a resident for the past two and a half years. Rose was predeceased by her husband Robert Kronen in 1977.
She is survived by her children William, Peggy, David (Lisa), Charles, Janet Spears (Ray), and Tricia, her eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, her sister Susan Heid (Norman), and several nieces and nephews.
Rose was a devoted member of the Amber Congregational Church where she was involved in several groups including the Ladies Friendship Circle. Rose was a homemaker, caretaker, and a leader within the community always working hard to better her community. Not only did Rose spend a great deal of time caring for her own grandchildren, but she also played an integral part in the lives of many other children within the Otisco Lake community through her work with her church and the Otisco Lake Community Center. In addition to her work with the young, Rose did all she could for the elderly as well. From volunteering for Meals on Wheels or Van Duyn to transporting members of the community to doctor’s appointments, the grocery store, or church, everyone knew she was always just a phone call away. She was known to keep track of all of these responsibilities and important dates (as well as the weather, any visitors, delicious meals, and other various things) on her calendar. Anyone that knew Rose was aware of just how special she was, but she just saw the things she did as “necessary”. When she was recognized for her contributions and years of service to the community by being awarded the WTVH Jefferson Award in 1995, she was humbled, but considered it “not necessary”. Her dedication to family and community will be remembered by all who had the privilege to know her.
