Obituary for Steven J. Walowsky

Steven J. Walowsky, 96, of Auburn died peacefully at home, Thursday, January 29, 2015. He was born in Auburn, the son of the late William and Mary Kotys Walowsky. He attended Auburn schools. He was retired from ALCO, where he worked as a machinist. Following retirement, he worked at small engine repair.
Steve was an avid bowler, and enjoyed his vegetable garden in the summer. He was a lifetime member and past officer of the Loyal Order of Moose. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He is survived by his wife Betty Russell Walowsky, and his daughter Mary Ann (Mike) Harmon of Auburn. He is also survived by his stepchildren Karen Walter, and Richard Russell, three grandchildren James M. (Joyce) Harmon, Melissa A. Harmon, and Dennis R. Harmon, step grandchildren Damien Walter, Richard Russell, Francene Walter, Stephen Walter, Gerald Russell, nine great grandchildren, nephews Dennis (Amy) Walowsky, David (Barbara) Walowsky and niece Elaine (Patrick) Malvaso.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife Mary Walowsky, brothers Joseph and Michael, his sister Julia Yablonsky, great grandson James M. Harmon II, and his nephew Michael Walowsky.
Funeral services for Mr. Walowsky will be at 9:30 A.M. Tuesday in St. Nicholas Orthodox Church. Burial will be in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Half Acre. Friends are invited to call Monday from 4 to 7 P.M. at the Plis Funeral Home, 220 State St..
Contributions may be made in Steve's memory to Hospice of the Finger Lakes, 1130 Corporate Drive, Auburn or St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, 30 Cross St., Auburn.
