Obituary for Susan Sylcox

Susan Sylcox, 91, of Auburn died Monday, January 5, 2016. She was a life resident of the Auburn area. Sue was the first in her family to attend college. She retired from the Skaneateles School District where she was a Physical Education teacher. She was an avid golfer and Bridge Player, member of Highland Park Golf Club and the Cymbrak-Fallat American Legion Auxiliary. She was a Breast Cancer Survivor of over 20 years.
She is survived by her son John (Ann) Sylcox of Syracuse, and son-in-law Mark McGuire of Woburn, MA, granddaughters Jennifer (Timothy) Simmance of Clarence, NY, Natalie McGuire of Woburn, MA, Suzanna and Johanna Sylcox of Syracuse, Grandsons Ryan (Cristina) McGuire of Boston, MA, Tyler and Mark McGuire of Woburn, MA, and Ian Sylcox of Syracuse, great-grandsons Gabriel Timot of Clarence, NY, and Lucas McGuire of Boston, nieces Barbara (Eugene) Henshaw of Alvin, TX, and Donna (Darrell) Whitakker of LasVegas, NV, nephew Michael Fallat of Auburn, many cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Stanley Sylcox, daughter Bonnie McGuire, 3 sisters and 3 brothers.
Funeral services will be at 11 A.M. Saturday at the Plis Funeral Home, 220 State St., Auburn. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph's Mausoleum. Friends may call prior to the service, starting at 10 A.M. Contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, 5008 Brittonfield Pkwy., Suite 300, E. Syracuse, NY 13057.
