William “Bill” Lukins, 83, passed away peacefully on Sunday January 15, 2023. Bill was a life resident of Shepard Settlement, and a graduate of Marcellus High School. He was a lifelong second generation dairy farmer. Bill also worked 34 years for the State of New York as a maintenance/ groundskeeper for the Syracuse Developmental Center until he retired in 1991. Bill enjoyed sports, especially swearing if the play didn’t go right. He was an avid bowler, loved playing cards and doing scratch offs. Bill also did the chains at the Marcellus Varsity football home games until 2007 when he finally decided to hang up the chains for the last time.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years Jeanne, children Cynthia, Karen (Dan), Stephen (Tracy), Deborah (Brian) and William (Kim), his siblings Martha (Keith) and David, he also leaves behind several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours for Bill will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday January 20 at the Plis Funeral Home, 33 North St., Marcellus and service will follow at 7 p.m.
