Obituary for William Wasilenko

William Wasilenko, 91, of Auburn died Monday, November 25, 2013, at Upstate University Hospital, Syracuse, following a brief illness.
Mr. Wasilenko was a life resident of the Auburn area, the son of the late Michael and Mary Kimak Wasilenko. He retired from the Gleason-Avery Co., and also worked for All-Red Inc.. He was a member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, and the Saint Nicholas War Veterans. He was a Navy veteran of WW II.
Bill is survived by his wife, the former Irene Christina, and his son and daughter-in-law William J. and Kathy Wasilenko of Chesapeake, Virginia. Also surviving are his grandchildren Stephen (Pamela) and Sybal Wasilenko, great grandchildren Claire and John Joseph Wasilenko, his brother Alex Wasilenko, sister Sue Silke, both of Auburn, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters Anna Moskal, Julia Hojnacki, and Helen Knight, and brothers John, Michael and Nicholas.
Funeral services for Mr. Wasilenko will be at 9 A.M. Saturday from the Plis Funeral Home, and 9:30 A.M. in St. Nicholas Orthodox Church. Burial will be in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Half Acre.
Friends are invited to call Friday from 4 to 7 P.M. at the funeral home, 220 State St.
