Obituary for Veronica Thoryk (Matviak)

Veronica Matviak Novak Thoryk, 93, of Auburn, died Thursday, July 12, 2018. Mrs. Thoryk was a life resident of the Auburn area, the daughter of the late Adam and Mary Zanoviak Matviak. She was retired from Auburn Leathercrafters. She was a very active member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, and a member of the St. Marian Sisterhood. She could be found volunteering at almost any activity at the church. She was also a former member of FROC.
“Ronnie” is survived by two daughters Nadine (Jack) Kubisch of Englewood, FL, and Andrea (Matthew) Landry of Waterford, NY, her son Mark Novak and his wife Christine Rinaldi of Auburn, four grandchildren R.J. Landry, Julia Stanley, Alexandra and Roxana Novak, and two great grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband’s John Novak and Andrew Thoryk, her sisters Julia Walawender, Helen Malenich, Mary Guszcza, and Jean Matviak, and her brother John Matvyak.
Funeral services for Mrs. Thoryk will be at 9 A.M. Monday, July 16, from the Plis Funeral Home, and 9:30 A.M. in St. Nicholas Orthodox Church. Burial will be in St. Nicholas Cemetery, half Acre. Friends are invited to call Sunday from 4 to 7 P.M. at the funeral home, 220 State St., Auburn.
Contributions may be made in her memory to St. Nicholas Orthodox Church.
