Obituary for William L. Stanley

William L. Stanley, 66, of Auburn, died unexpectedly Saturday, May 10, 2014. Bill was a life resident of the Auburn area, the daughter of Anastasia "Nellie" Marko Stanley, and the late Alfred "Gale" Stanley. He was a graduate of West High School, class of 1965. He was employed by the New York State Department of Transportation, Syracuse, for thirty seven years, retiring in 2009. Since then he has done consulting work. He was a member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, and currently served as Treasurer. Bill was an avid bowler, currently serving as Secretary-Treasurer of two leagues. He formerly served as assistant to the director of the Auburn Bowling Association; he participated in numerous ABC National Tournaments, and was a member of the 700 Club.
Bill is survived by his daughters Sara and Phyllis Stanley, his mother "Nellie" Stanley, his brother Al Stanley Jr., of High Point, NC, nephew Frederick Stanley, and several cousins.
Funeral services for Bill will be at 10 A.M. Thursday in St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, Auburn. Burial will be in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Half Acre. Friends are invited to call Wednesday from 3 to 7 P.M. at the funeral home, 220 State St.
Contributions may be made in Bill's memory to the St. Nicholas Church Roof Fund.
